Zoning Permit Applications

No construction, relocation, addition, or structural alteration of any building or other structure (including but not limited to residences, sheds, garages, swimming pools, fences, decks, porches, etc.) is allowed. Furthermore, no building, structure, or land may be established or have its use modified without first obtaining a permit from the Zoning Inspector of the Village of Monroeville. Zoning permit applications are available for access and download in the Available Documents section of this page.

An important step in securing approval for a Village permit is the creation of a site plan drawing. The drawing must depict your property lines and provide details such as buildings, setbacks, and lot lines. It is essential to include building footprints, driveways, and notable nearby features. Start by sketching your property lines, ensuring that you accurately measure and denote them. Subsequently, add any existing structures, including porches, decks, sheds, garages, and pools. Measure the distances from your property line to these structures, as well as the distances between existing structures and the proposed new structure. There is no requirement to concentrate on the interior floor plan.

After a permit application and fee payment have been submitted, the Zoning Inspector is allotted 10 days to either approve or deny the application in accordance with the provisions of the village zoning ordinance. Should a zoning permit application receive approval, but the work described does not commence within one year from the issuance date, the permit will become invalid. Furthermore, if the work specified in any approved zoning permit is not substantially completed within one year of the issuance date, the permit will also expire. Completed permit applications, along with the requisite payment, must be submitted to the Village Administrative Office. Payments can be made using cash, check, money order, or debit/credit card. To ascertain the fee payment for your application, the permit fee schedule is available for access and download in the Available Documents section of this page. If you are applying for a permit that encompasses multiple proposed uses (such as a shed and a fence), it is mandatory to submit a separate permit for each proposed use, and a fee will be charged for each proposed use you are requesting.

If you would like to make your payment with a debit or credit card, please visit the payment website, www.GovPayNow.com, using PLC Code # a003zx for the Village of Monroeville.
