Zoning Permit Applications
No building or any other structure (such as a home, shed, garage, pool, fence, deck, porch, etc.) may be constructed, relocated, added to, or undergo any structural modifications, nor may any building, structure, or land be established or have its use altered, without obtaining a permit from the Village of Monroeville Zoning Inspector.
A crucial step in your planning process and in obtaining Village approval is to create a site plan. This site plan should illustrate your property line and include essential details such as buildings, setbacks, lot lines, etc. It is important to incorporate the major components, like building footprints, driveways, and significant nearby features. Begin by sketching your property lines. Accurately measure and mark your property lines. Next, include any existing structures (such as porches, decks, sheds, garages, and pools). Concentrate on the overall shape. Measure the distances from your property line to the structure, as well as the distances between existing structures and the new structure. There is no need to focus on the interior floor plan; capturing the footprint is sufficient.
After you have submitted your completed permit application along with payment, the Zoning Inspector will either approve or deny the application in accordance with the zoning ordinance provisions. If a zoning permit application is approved but the work described has not commenced within one year from the date of issuance, the permit will expire. Additionally, if the work outlined in any approved zoning permit is not substantially completed within one year of the issuance date, that permit will expire. Permit application forms can be downloaded from the Available Documents section of this page. Completed permit applications, along with payment, should be submitted to the Village Administrative Office. Payment of fees can be made via check, cash, money order, or debit/credit card. To find out the permit fee for your project, please download the Zoning: Schedule of Fees from the Available Documents section of this page.
If you would like to make your payment with a debit or credit card, please visit our payment website, www.GovPayNow.com, using PLC Code # 4996 for the Village of Monroeville. All debit/credit payments are subject to a card processing fee.
If you are seeking a permit that includes multiple proposed uses (such as a shed and a fence), you are required to submit a separate permit for each proposed use, and a fee will be assessed for every proposed use you are requesting.
If you have any questions, please contact the Village Administrative Office or the Village Zoning Inspector.
